Having introduced 1 of our Transatlantic friends to the delights of Victor Meldrew, I thought I'd share 1 of my favourite bits with you.

Wouldn't we all just love to do this!

I loved the episode when the garden centre men delivered the house plant to his door. He had obviously given them a hard time because when he asked them to "just put it in the toilet," he didn't expect to come back and find it actually planted in the bowl of the downstairs loo. Laughed so much I nearly did a little wee!

It is called "one foot in the grave." It has to be a mega comic classic.

The reason I support public television (PBS) here in Austin is that every Saturday night is British comedy night. I have watched the greats, Monty Python when young, Faulty Towers in my 20's and now Father Ted, One Foot In The Grave, Keeping up Appearances, As Time Goes By (not too fond of he last two), etc.

YES. Drunken women never really seemed funny to me for some odd reason - perhaps because they always puked on me.

Oh come on! One Foot In The Grave, Keeping up Appearances and As Time Goes By, must surely rank among the worst British TV has to offer. Then again, I suppose they are (slightly) better than trash like Friends.

Paul - please do not try to compare One Foot In The Grave with those other 2 programs. There is just no comparison.
