A barrel of oil IS 42 gallons or 159 litres. And I'll ignore the European spelling. The Rich Texas Oil Guy
Peter Crawford asked the Naked Scientists:Greetings from Australia,I was listening to your episode on the 9th February 2008, whereby the barrel of oil was discussed.I looked it up in the World Book Encyclopedia, and it says the standard measure for oil is 42 gallons or 159 litres...not 31 gallons which is used for other liquids..I love your show...Chris you are one of the most intelligent and most interesting people..It is a joy to listen to your show.It has enriched me immensely..Take care,Pistol Packing Pete!!!What do you think?
