Pressure spots.All the bony protuberances push against the skin restricting blood flow.. you shift to relieve this pressure. In fact we do it all the time. Slight shifts in the way we are seated, stand, however we are positioned occur all the time. Mostly we don't take much notice of the shifts because we are otherwise distracted... while sleeping we have two factors to make us notice more 1. we are not as distracted and 2. your body is in more contact with a surface therefore more pressure points. no offence, but I'm glad I'm not your neighbour.
