Overactivie Thyroid Or Bronchitus?
« on: 12/02/2005 20:06:56 »
[xx(]The last 2 days have been most discomforting. Yesterday around the lunch hour I could feel that a spell of Bronchitus (sp) was on its way, that usual slight pain in your chest when you breathe, cough, swallow, or burp. By the late hours of the evening I was in alot of pain, I couldnt swallow any food without my throat and chest area hurting. Now, I woke up this morning, and the pain is relativly gone, but is still there, I fear it might come on strong again as it did last night. Now what makes me think its an overactive Thyroid is because over the past year I've lost damn near 55 pounds by doing absolutely nothing. No, im not on crack or heroin. I occasionly smoke some pot with my friends but I dont think that would cause that much of a drastic change in overall weight. It also hurts when I lean my head forward and swallow or something. Please, give me a diagnosis. [xx(]

Your diagnosis is:

Go see a real live doctor, especially if there's any enlargement of your thyroid.  There are quite a few scary ailments that involve your symptoms.  (Quite a few innocuous ones too, but don't risk it)

My ex husband developed thyroiditis after a cold.  He had the sensation of a lump in his throat, and he also began losing weight.  One night, while he was sleeping, I took his pulse and it was 120.  After that, took him to the doc for a diagnosis, but sounds like yours is similar.  Have someone count your pulse rate at rest and if it's elevated, could be the same thing, although, he lost weight much faster -- about 20 lbs in six weeks.  Seems like smoking pot might make you gain and not lose weight.
