If you were given a magical elixir that would make you never have depressed feelings, would you take it?

Yes!

and dreams aside... depression sure makes you appreciate happiness and love and joy..even more then one might normally!

Tricky.  In a depressing world it is appropriate to feel depressed, but what's the point of living if you don't enjoy it?  Pretty much a Truth or Beauty question.
...And its claws are as big as cups, and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps! And Mrs Doyle was telling me it's got magnets on its tail, so if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you! And instead of a mouth it's got four arses!

Before I drink this elixir I have a few questions:

Is it possible to feel compassion for someone who is depressed if you have never experienced the feeling? Will this elixir take away my memories of feeling depressed myself?

And on a more practical note: Will I have to take it for the rest of my life or only one time? Are there side-effects?
I got annoyed with looking
at my own signature

I think this elixir already exists for some people, they call it alcohol. When you're three parts to the wind, who cares???
