Will people in australia re-evolve dark skin?

Jesse Lopez  asked the Naked Scientists:
Hi naked scientists.

Love the show.

I recently heard a podcast of your show from last year.  The show was all about skin and how we evolved from dark skin to white, due to the cold gloomy British climate.

Here in Australia, where i live, its very hot and we are predominantly of British and European descent.

Due to our light coloured skin and hot climate we have a huge, if not the biggest rate of skin cancer in the world.

So my question is: Are we the people of Australia going to eventually re-evolve back to having dark skin, and if so how long will it take?

Thanks naked scientists!

What do you think?

Hi Jesse I too live in Australia and have noticed families who have a heritage of generations living on the farms have unique features of heavy brows and wider nostril, probably to cope with our climate.

I don't know where you live but in the cities the main features of Australians these days is predominately Asian not British.
