i guess you mean bomb when you said bob and that depends on the reason of not going off and the type of bomb used.

Very old fashioned bombs did use a burning fuse to set them off, this was a pice of string dipped in gunpowder to make it burn better. However since then there have been many more sophisticated ways of doing it, and most modern explosives need a small explosion to set them off and will otherwise just burn normally. You can use strong acids eating through a metal plate to time your explosion, or clockwork, or do the whole thing electrically. So modern bombs don't smoke before blowing up.

well, what do you mean, what kind of bomb do yuo want to make. And when you do make it, be carful not to set it.
