ok during school we learned that all cells come from other cells. So where did the first cell come from?

Which first cell ? The one that made you, or the one that made your ancestors ?

the first organisms were single celled, we all evolved from there.  They evolved from components of what we call cells today which evolved from the organic materials that make them up (such as nucleic acids)

I think, as far as we understand your question to be, MayoFlyFarmer did try to answer it.

The first thing you have to realise is that before you can answer a question, you have to be sure you know what the question means.

We are assuming that you are asking about the first cell ever, not merely the first cell in a particular cell line.

A cell is a set of chemical reactions inside a chamber.

So the next question is whether you are asking how the chemical reactions within the cell came about, or whether you are asking how the cell chamber (i.e. the cell wall than encompasses the cell) came into being.

Not that in either case can anyone give you a definitive answer such an answer is not known to anyone yet; but at least it will give you a better feel for the nature of the question.

All cells came from a totipotent cell. [:)]
Totipotent cell is......?

well its the evolution, if you are looking phylogenetically the first cell has the origin of sudden forming of an amino acid from all the elements which were present on earth. this is what the scientist used to say and that it was a possibility in millions it could have been the other way round and there would be no one. this discussion is apart from the religions, coz we know that the first cell was the cell of Adam and then Eve.
