Transparent is dependent on the wavelength of the radiation. Ordinary glass is transparent to a narrow range of wavelengths, it is opaque to UV light and most IR light, but is transparent at some microwave frequencies. Copper or steel welded mesh is nearly transparent, but to most radio waves it appears as a solid.
