Perhaps they are simply humans from the future come back to our time to study us, and the reason they look like they do is because of the "hazard suits" they have to wear to keep from contracting our viruses or diseases. :)

Has anyone ever thought; Maybe we are the most intelligent and advanced forms of life in this Galaxy, maybe we will be the ones who discover a homeland of a different species. It's unlikely considering our Star is second generation, but hey we can always dream :)
