the specimen is mostly olive green with blotches of pink. it cannot be scratched with a nail, does not react with acid, has no taste, streaks white and is non-ferrous.  i cannot see any crystals. sorry i dont have an image to share.

"Watermelon" tourmaline is "olive and pink "

Olivine is, (clue in the title), olive green (but can also be red).

Do you know where it was found?

And if at all possible get someone to take a picture with their cell phone and post it here. If you do not have the ability to post the picture, send it from the phone via email to my email address (click on my name in the upper left of this little frame with my post. My email is listed) and I will post it for you.

OK, I have the pictures - out of focus as they  are - from aseekeri

This looks to me like a river rounded-rock made of the most wonderful type of rock Bass ever saw - a breccia! I think it could be what was once dolomite that has a been copper impregnated by secondary mineralization. There are a few of these around in the Appalachians.

The pink mineral would be rhodochrosite.
