So it takes 8 mins for light to reach us from the sun, I would be interested in finding out how long it would take light to reach Voyager 1 & 2, from the Sun?  [???]

Is this craft closer to the sun, because shortening the distance means time as well.

As of August 2010, Voyager 1 was at a distance of 17.1 Billion Kilometers (114.3 AU) from the sun and Voyager 2 at a distance of 13.9 Billion kilometers (92.9 AU).

Your quoted 8 mins is for one AU - so voyager one is receiving light that is about 15 hours old and v two light that is about 12 hours old.

They are a huge distance from us now - and still teaching us about the solar system

That is truly amazing, after listening to the astronomy podcast the other night I understand that Voyager I is now passing through the very outer shell of our solar system.
