Are the little mini USB transmitters any good?

I got a new wireless keyboard recently.

And, it came with the new style mini-transmitter.

It seems as if I miss keys periodically, or key combos such as Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V.

Are these mini-transmitters any good?  What I may end up having to do is put it into a USB extension cord to the front of my desk, which kind of defeats the purpose of the miniaturization.

I suspect the intermittent faults are due to radio interference rather than a line-of-sight thing.
If true the problem will persist even if you use a USB extension cable to place the receiver (dongle) in line-of-sight of the transmitter (keyboard).

[Alternatively the computer may be intermittently distracted by some process and momentarily ignore your addon keyboard].

Thanks,

I've added a USB extension cord and moved the receiver nearer to my keyboard.  I actually have the PC located behind my monitor on my desk.   It seems to help somewhat.  However, I still seem to miss a few keystrokes.

Perhaps the left control button is flaky.  It is a new keyboard, HP, but, one never knows.  I'll watch it a bit more.

I shouldn't have that many devices that would interfere at home.
