Give me some advice
« on: 13/06/2006 14:38:42 »
I am a student interested in groundwater. Recently, I've read several
papers. In these paper, the authors interpret groundwater provenance,
renewability and those factors affecting its quality with the ratio of
elements. I want to learn further. But I don't know how to begin.
Please give me some advice or tell me where I can find these
information.
Thanks!

Hi peanutcd...

You already have a lead on others - you can spell the word "provenance." It took me almost a year to get my nimbile 19 year old brain to get the difference between this word and 'providence.'

The study of ground water is a sub-discipline of geology, more specifically hydrology. To start your own studies, I might suggest starting at http://water.usgs.gov/education.html, then going from there by asking questions. There is a sectioon in there for life-long  learning students and some of the other sections will do for a start as well. And the http://water.usgs.gov/ site as a whole has a lot of information to offer.

Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Jim
