What produces a sensation of hot skin?
« on: 06/08/2013 22:30:01 »
Dizzyliz asked the Naked Scientists:

My body temperature is regular but my outside skin and my bones in my arms are burning! My lips are very hot. I have lost a lot of weight. If I eat meat all the liquid comes out and then the meat crumbles. I feel like I'm swallowing sand. What causes this?

Please help me thank you!

What do you think?

I hope you've discussed these concerns with your physician.

A little more information would be helpful.
  • How old are you?
  • Male?  Female?
  • Night Sweats?  Abnormal Perspiration?
  • Any Medications?

The differential diagnosis might include:
Menopause
Pregnancy?
Thyroid or Parathyroid problems?
Glioma or Tumors.
Lymphoma
Diabetes
Diabetes Insipidus.

Anxiety can cause xerostomia (dry mouth), making swallowing difficult,
and flushing (hot skin), making you feel hot without having a raised core temperature.

If you have unintentionally lost a lot of weight over a short period of time then you should definitely visit your doctor
