The report suggested that sperm were still being produced by the testes, but the coordinated contractions of the vas deferens were suppressed.

This implies that sperm will still be released progressively, but in quantities too low to be classified as "fertile".

Most types of contraception has some small percent of failure.  I wonder if this would still have some breakthrough.

Would botox be effective?  Although repeated injections in a very sensitive part of the body would not be popular.

As far as genetic therapy.
It would be interesting if one could design humanity to be naturally infertile, but to achieve fertility with a supplemental drug.  I.E.  Pregnancies would have to be planned.

Applying the therapy to broad sectors of the population would be difficult without releasing what would be a very controversial virus.
