What new ways can we apply static/motionless mixers?

I'm researching disposable static mixers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, Iím attempting to develop a static mixer that has an L/D (Length to Diameter) ratio that is less than existing designs while also providing a lower pressure drop. Are there any innovative technologies that need to apply static mixing to them? Are there areas where motionless mixing might be applied that hasnít yet?
