Can you recommend a small-scale hydroelectric turbine generator?
« on: 02/10/2015 15:54:45 »
Greetings all.. not sure where to look or where to start but figured maybe someone here may guide me in the right direction. I am looking for an hydro turbine generator on a small consumer based scale.. something that can power a pump (80-120watt). Does something like this exist?

I see them on a large scale (power houses and what not) but nothing smaller..

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Are you planning to use a flow of water to pump water?
If so, have you considered one of these?

The system will specify what type and size of turbine you need.

First thing you need to look at where you are getting your rotational movement from.. obviously water.. but is it slow moving, fast moving, deep shallow, full pipe, part filled pipe.. etc etc. and find what you need to generate a steady turning moment.

Then you need to look at what power your pump needs.. 3 phase? 50 or 60hz? 24V, 110V, 240V, 440V? then you will see what turbine you need to find.. hence they are unlikely to be off the shelf.. but there are a good range out there that MAY fit your bill http://www.nooutage.com/HydroElGen.htm is one site that seems to link to few places
