Can we get closer to the big bang?

Can we get closer to the big bang?

Robert Jeffs asked the Naked Scientists:
   We are told that the furthest object at 13 billion light years distance is a galaxy only 900 million years from the "big bang".If we looked further would we get closer and closer to the big bang.  If this so, as there are similar objects in all directions. would we find ourselves completely surrounded by a view of the big bang?

Yes. We are inside the remnants of the Big Bang, and our galaxy is a piece of shrapnel from the Big Bang.

In looking farther (13.X billion light-years) into faint objects with a high redshift (z>8), we are really looking farther backwards in time (13.X billion years).

The James Webb space telescope has a very large mirror, optimized for operation in the infra-red, so it should be able to find even fainter objects with even higher red-shifts, which are even closer to the Big Bang. And it should be able to find them in almost every direction (apart from in the plane of our galaxy, where the view is obscured by dust clouds in our galaxy).

In the first hundreds of thousands of years after the Big Bang the Universe was so dense that light could not travel through space at all. Therefore, our vision of the Cosmos is limited... We will never see how the inflationary universe looked like.
