What causes memory loss?
« on: 20/12/2016 09:49:44 »
mpumi asked the Naked Scientists:

I would like to find out what causes memory loss and what can I do to improve it (memory).

I noticed that I forgot easily lately and I am under a lot of stress as well.

Your response will be highly appreciated.

best regards,
Mpumi

What do you think?

    See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnesia#Causes

In short, many factors could be implicated in memory loss. Among theses, impairment of synaptic plasticity can be detrimental to memory formation and retention. I also found out that hypertension may induce cognitive impairment: http://www.fasebj.org/content/30/1_Supplement/728.6.short

Memory loss accelerates as we age. This occurs even in the absence of disease states like Alzheimers disease.

Exercise, study and remaining socially active can help delay this decline (as can participating in discussion on The Naked Scientists forum....).

    hi
there are many reason which causes memory loss,  If you have difficulty remembering things, your mind may make the leap to Alzheimer’s disease – but that’s not the only cause of memory loss.  Patients might experience memory loss and describe their symptoms similarly, but a doctor can tease apart what parts of the brain are affected,
