Can you make an IUPAC Haiku?
« on: 08/06/2017 20:51:25 »
Can you come up with a chemically valid chemical structure, for which the IUPAC name can logically be written as a haiku*? For structures with names, see attached.

2,2-dibromo-
5,7,9-trimethoxy
undecanamide

3-bromomethyl-
1,2,4-triiodo-
5-methylbenzene

2-cyclohexyl-
4-trifluoromethyl
cyclopentanone

*3 lines of text, the first and last having 5 syllables while the middle has 7.

No because I'm not clever enough, but I can quote this limerick

A mosquito was heard to complain
That a chemist had poisoned his brain.
The cause of his sorrow,
was para dichloro
diphenyltrichloroethane.

1,8-dibromo-
5,6,7-trimethoxy
isododecane

Might, on a good day react under crosse wurtz coupling conditions with bromomethane to make
1,8-dimethyl-
5,6,7-trimethoxy
isododecane

Which, in appealingly bad yield, could be substituted with ethanol and acid to make

1,8-dimethyl-
5,6,7-triethoxy
isododecane
