WHAT IS MASS ??

WHAT IS MASS ??

WHAT IS MASS ?
               
Simple!   There are only 3 kinds of mass:
 
  •     “Newtonian” mass
  •     “relativistic” mass
  •     “quantum” mass
                         
What is it that makes one particle light and another heavy? The origin of mass is one of the most intriguing mysteries of nature.
 
Some particles, such as the W boson (which carries the weak force) have so much mass they barely move, while others, like the photon, are entirely massless and zip around at the speed of light. 

The mass of fundamental particles – those that carry forces and build nuclei and atoms – is often explained by the way they move through the Higgs field that is thought to pervade all the space of the Universe.

To some particles, such as the top quark, the Higgs field is like molasses: they get bogged down and become very heavy. To others, like the photon, the field is empty space: they fly through unimpeded and gain no weight at all.

That's quite wrong. Those you listed are all the same thing, i.e. that which relates velocity to momentum. The real types of mass are

(1) inertial mass - that which gives a body momentum, i.e. resists changes in motion
(2) active gravitational mass - that which is the source of gravity
(3) passive gravitational mass - that on which gravity acts

You claim that your above 3 are the real types of mass.   

How do you know that ?!  :)   
 
Is it according to your personal opinion?  Or, do you have a source for your claim,
other than the fact that certain Peter M. Brown expressed his personal opinion on arxiv.org/abs/0709.0687 and nobody really cares what  Peter M. Brown may think ?


So, what is the difference between (1) inertial mass  and  (3) passive gravitational mass ?
 



But the real question is : 

What is it that makes one particle light and another heavy?

The simple fact is that a physical body resists changes in motion, obviously.
 
We can call this fact by using the term : " inertial mass ".

What does that explain?  NOTHING.  :) 
   
The question is HOW exactly does it happen?
What is the physical reason explaining the fact
that a physical body resists changes in motion?
 
(2) active gravitational mass - that which is the source of gravity 
 
Clearly, gravity has something to do with mass.  :)   
The question is how exactly mass produces gravity.

OK, mass is due to the Higgs field and the Higgs boson.
However, this does not explain how gravity is due to the Higgs field and the Higgs boson.

Gravity is due to a hypothetical graviton particle
that has never been detected?  :) 

You say that gravitational mass is that which is the source of gravity.

Is there any mass that is not a source of gravity?  :)

The  quantum space trapped within the quanta field is the mechanism of attraction to other quanta fields. Yes I understand you have no idea what I am talking about , you would need to understand that the whole of space is attracted to any zero point energy , you also have to understand that any zero point energy , a particle (i like to call them sprites) , are hollow inside.

Energy c is dilated in the presence of mass creating what we describe as a field due to energy moving electrons. The electrons have less friction with energy c when energy c is dilated. Mass is attracted to the most dilated space in its local environment we can measure as force of attraction.
