LOL, I think it's 18 over here. But that is only to purchase the alcohol. You can drink it at any age, as long as it is bought from an 18 or over pereson, and that you have permission from your parents. You can go to a restaurant, and your parents order a beer for you, and you can still drink it. I think

Seany - that's not strictly true. An adult can be prosecuted for buying alcohol for an under-18-year-old.

Some restaurants will turn a blind eye to an underage person having a small glass of wine with a meal (if an adult is there), but I think they draw the line at 14.

I guess it depends on how old the child is and how much the child has.

When I was younger my pops would let me have a shandy........that was nice, especially at the age of 8 [:)]

Sometimes, around Christmas if I was lucky my pops would let me have a stumpy with my meal.......must have been about 12 or so

A shandy is basically a beer or larger mixed with lemonade. More lemonade than beer though [;)]

the lemonade concoction..

It's not that bad actually, and if you're a driver and still want a bit of beer then it's ideal.

I think one of the worst concoctions has to be snakebite..........basically you have half and half of cider and larger mixed together.......it's very strong

I invented a drink called a green monster - half of scrumpy (for the benefit of our American friends, that's brain-damage cider), half of Bavarian lager (8.6%) and a shot of Green Chartreuse. It goes the colour of green washing up liquid complete with bubbles and kicks like a heavyweight mule.

Oh god, not scrumpy  [:o]

I can't drink cider anymore, I went a little crazy and mixed too many together with the end result of passing out in the bathroom for about 5 hours, coming to now and again to be sick.........although I was really sleepy and had a great night sleep......but then I woke to find (I was crashing at theirs with a mate in the living room) my mates girlfriend standing over  me with a short skirt on and just bra and asking if I was alright.......not exactly what you want to see first thing in the morning after emptying your stomach most of the night............a bottle of bud never tasted so good later that day.................. KIDS DON'T DRINK

But making your own concoctions up is great. My local pub had some deal on where you could make your own cocktails. You would get any five shots you wanted and any mixer.......we came up with a good'un, forgot what we called it though.......the main thing is........I got a Garden Gnome out of it  [;D]
