What is the prevalence of atelectasis in the general population?
« on: 20/09/2018 19:34:45 »
I searched the whole internet and I cannot find the prevalence of atelectasis in general population, its costs in UK or elsewhere and if and when it can be reversed.

Anyone please?

You searched the whole internet?
I generally get Google to do that for me.
Also, re "when it can be reversed"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atelectasis#Treatment
gives some hints.

Of course I read this but it does not help much.

May I make a suggestion?

If you follow the forum guidelines, which are to phrase your posts as questions, then you might have more luck. We give this guidance for a reason - because people are much more likely to be drawn to engage with a question rather than a statement. I've edited your "question" for you this time  ;)

In terms of helping you with your query, I am not altogether surprised that you cannot find an easy answer, because atelectasis is not a syndrome in its own right that we can count; atelectasis is usually a radiological diagnosis that means that a chest X-ray has the features consistent with some distal airway collapse. This happens for a whole range of different reasons ranging from hypoventilation to diaphragmatic problems, infection, fibrosis and so on. So I suspect you are searching for the wrong thing.

If you can tell us a bit more about the background to your enquiry, perhaps I can guide you...

I want to know how many people does atelectasis affect, for how long, if it is treatable and reversible?
