If saline is used to dilute BSA instead of water for a standard, will saline lower the absorbance values?

It's impossible to say without testing under exactly the circumstances you are making the measurements. At the very least, there's not enough information to answer the question.

If you want to be sure you have the right answers, use the right diluent.
