Hi

I have a solutuon of I think it is Aluminum Chloride because I dissolved aluminum foil into hydrochloric acid. How can I separate aluminum from the solution so I can get back thr aluminum in any form?

The aim of asking this question is to get aluminum powder without grinding aluminum foil. I thought if I can dissolve aluminum foil into hcl maybe there is a way to get it back as a powder

You won't be able to get aluminum metal from a solution of aluminum chloride. Any reductant capable of reducing the aluminum (III) to aluminum metal, would first react with the water to make hydrogen gas.

The ability to produce aluminum metal (in any form) was a huge industrial success (it requires electrolysis of molten aluminum salts).

You could boil off the water which will also destroy quite a lot of teh chloride and give you mainly the oxide then heat that in a stream of carbon tetrachloride vapour to give anhydrous AlCl3
Then heat that with sodium to get aluminium.

Grinding foil looks like a much more sensible option.
