Positive things out of this awful situation? Perhaps?
« on: 26/04/2020 01:55:43 »
Some people might say that having a few thousand extra bucks in your bank account for doing nothing (courtesy of the government) is not such a bad thing, but that's not what i'm addressing here.

Obviously there's nothing positive about COVID-19's body count...  But more and more people are changing their minds on their skepticism of how man is creating climate change. The lack of cars on the streets are making the air more palatable. Hard evidence. Perhaps in China and other authoritarian countries such as Vietnam and Cuba, people will see government lying on the pandemic as the last straw and produce a more open, representative government. In the U.S. we have temporary universal healthcare that seems to be working quite well. Perhaps it will cause it to be permanent? Perhaps the world will become more knowledgeable of biological diseases. I don't know.

How is paletable air scienfic "hard evidence" of anythjng other than pollution ? That was known as far back as the 18th century. Do you mean another "cause" for people to rally behind for a short period, like plastics and then forgeddaboudit.

Like giving absolute power to a cowardly draft dodger who lies in public?

despite your "democratically" elected  president demolishing it, sacking the heads of the public health laboratories, and telling people to inject themselves with Lysol.

Yes, he has stated his intention to abolish the two-term rule and become president for life, unlike his boss Putin who does at least get himself re-elected from time to time.

Don't get me wrong, I have no love for my president. In fact, I hate him. And yes, like the people that run China, Russia, Cuba, et cetera, he lies. It's practically official policy. His actions on COVID will make his destruction more complete.

Well in answer to your question, due to trump walking on stage, squalking like a duck about his ego and various abstract unrelated themes in the middle of peoples concerns, maybe the positive thing for you will be he gets voted out. I begin to think he is trying to lose, someome may have told him his poll ratings where going up and he panicked.

If Trump runs again, he will win, simply because the Democrats don't have a slogan or a candidate with pizzazz. Young, intelligent, competent, black, female....any one feature would be electable, so they have promoted an old white man whose fire has gone out. Loads of complicated policies, no simple slogan. Where's the vinegar?

Not that it matters. The popular vote is a waste of time in a country where it can be counted by the president's brother and ignored by the electoral college. Fake democracy.
