Only Brussels sprouts. Oh dear.

LOL.. Sorry Seany! LOL I honestly have never heard the terms Brussels sprouts before when referring to the male testicles!

But I must think that in answer to your question there surely must be an enormous amount of nerve endings in these that make them so sensitive to pain upon impact. This area is highly sensitive to all contact weather it be painful or otherwise! Is this not correct!

As far as a man goes to be hit I think would equal a girl falling on the bar of a mans ten speed bicycle bar! Very sensitive indeed, both ways!

I think there are a lot of nerve endings there but I could be wrong!

It is extremely painful makes me cry!!! I don't know how men can take a direct shot down there and not cry! My equiptment may be plumbed differently, but it is still there and a bicycle is a horribly painful fall. especially when the bike is two tall and you cannot straddle it with clearance between your legs. You need to be able to stand flat footed or be awful careful and lean over to get off.. It is the worse pain.....

Hmm.. Well I made the brussel sprouts part.. But they are called "Balls", marbles, meatballs,... etc lol

And why do you think there are lots of nerve endings there? Because it is an important part of the body?

They are sensitive so that we will look after them!
What sort of chance would the human race have if we could go around clouting our reproductive bits?
It does worry me when I see the testes of a Bull, ram, goat (no - not jealousy). They seem so vulnerable down there. They've just got to get the occasional knock on a passing tree stump. Owch.

For the point of view of evolution, your testicles are the most important part of your body. If they are irreparably damaged you will not have any children and therefore your genes will not live on, so you are an evolutionary dead end.

If it didn't hurt when you damaged them there wouldn't be anything to dissuade you from sliding down banisters, and not jumping off etc etc, so odds are you would make yourself infertile before adulthood and not breed. Hence the people who bred were the ones who's neather regions were quite sensitive so they were careful of them.

Now I do believe we have slightly different set up..LOL But when skin parts at impact we are just as exposed as you!

I have fallen on several boys bikes and the uneven parallel bars in High school.. High school as I recall I was on the floor for at least about ten minutes and literally bruised like crazy down there for weeks . It hurt for several days not like the first ten minutes or so. hurt to sit  a bit.. bicycles same thing, very painful... not good! You boys seem to have more to damage exposed at least certain body parts for us in the instance of a kick may offer protection where the bar running the same direction as openings causes more of a direct hit and is painful.

i think they're actually on the outside because the sperm needs to be a different temperature than the rest of your body or they'll die. but that doesn't make sense because they go into a woman and can live for a while... hmmm

Just a thought...

When a female is at the prime time for fertilisation her body temperature rises by .5 to 1.6 degrees and the prime time to conceive is approx 3 days before the high. The male testes are around 1 degree lower, I think!

Perhaps there is a relationship and the optimum average temperatures at the prime time to conceive should be as close to normal body temp as possible?

Hope that makes some sense.

Quote
Temperature regulation
In boreoeutherian land mammals (but not the xenarthran or afrotherian land mammals) the testes are located outside of the body, suspended by the spermatic cord within the scrotum. It has been suggested [1] that the ancestor of the boreoeutherian mammals was a small mammal that required very large testes (perhaps rather like those of a hamster) for sperm competition and thus had to place its testes outside the body. This led to enzymes involved in spermatogenesis, spermatogenic DNA polymerase beta and recombinase activities evolving a unique temperature optimum, at a degree somewhat less than core body temperature (37 C or 98.6 F for humans). When the boreoeutherian mammals then diversified into forms that were larger and/or did not require intense sperm competition they were stuck with enzymes that operated best at cooler temperatures and had to keep their testicles outside the body. An alternative argument is that the cooler temperature of the testes allows for more efficient fertile spermatogenesis. Another argument is that it protects the testes from abdominal cavity pressure changes caused by jumping and galloping. [2]. As external testes would increase drag many boreotherian aquatic mammals have internal testes which are kept cool by special circulatory systems that cool the arterial blood going to the testes using by placing the arteries near veins bringing cooled venous blood from the skin.

The cremasteric muscle is part of the spermatic cord. When this muscle contracts, the cord is shortened and the testicle is moved closer up toward the body, which provides slightly more warmth to maintain optimal testicular temperature. When cooling is required, the cremasteric muscle relaxes and the testicle is lowered away from the warm body and is able to cool. This phenomenon is known as the cremasteric reflex. It also occurs in response to stress (the testicles rise up toward the body in an effort to protect them in a fight), and there are persistent reports that relaxation indicates approach of orgasm. There is a noticeable tendency to also retract during orgasm.

The testicles can also be lifted voluntarily using the pubococcygeus muscle, which partially activates related muscles. This can sometimes be triggered by tightening or sucking in the stomach or abdomen. The testicles have a tendency to perspire profusely.

Monotremes, armadillos, sloths, elephants, and rhinoceroses have low body temperatures and do not have external scrotal sacs; their testes remain within the abdomen.[3] Marine mammals also have internal testes, but it has recently been shown (eg, for dolphins) that they use elaborate vascular networks to provide the necessary temperature lowering for proper operation.

Animals other than mammals do not have externalized testicles. Birds, despite having very high core body temperatures have internal testes; it was once theorized that birds used their air sacs to cool the testes internally, but later studies revealed that birds' testes function at core body temperature.

Womens' bits are internal and to damage them equivalently you'd need to suffer really quite fearsome trauma to a large number of other tissues first. I think they are likely to be equivalently sensitive, but it's harder to find out!
