I do not know I always wanted a tan but the people I have seen always looked more yellow then suntanned so I avoided it way back.. do the newer products work better then the old 30 years ago products..LOL.. and does it wash off unevenly or gradually or all at once.. and what about staining my nice white dress! LOL Is there a dye like your question suggests .. Uh Oh Kadie.. I don't know how they work either I want to know too!!

lotions and sprays containi dihydroxyacetone. DHA is a colorless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the upper layer of the epidermis, as the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a color change occurs.

Is it temporary or does it last untill you shed that layer of skin?

it fades within a week, that is why you have to keep re-applying the stuff and paying more money out.
