QotW - 20.09.21 - Why do we sweat when telling a secret?
« on: 21/09/2020 15:34:27 »
Margaret's been in touch with this excellent question:

"I can work in the yard and be covered in sweat for hours and only stink a little, but reveal one sensitive personal thing to a group of friends and immediately I stink to high heaven! Why?"

We'll be answering this on next week's show, but do you know the answer? What do you think?

Answered on the most recent QotW: https://www.thenakedscientists.com/podcasts/question-week/why-does-anxious-sweat-smell-worse

Tune in for an interesting comparison of eccrine vs apocrine sweat.

I also figured out that drinking coffee makes you (maybe) sweat more or even like crazy.
Does anyone know where that cames from and why coffee makes people sweat just sitting and doing nothing?

I guess we sweat because our gland in which the sweat is produced gets activated. If we are stress, do physical activity, dealing with our emotions or hormones, the body receives a message to cool down the body by sweating it out.
