Edward Binney and Harold Smith co-invented Crayola crayons

Crayons were invented by Edwin Binney and Harold Smith, who owned a paint company in New York City, NY, USA. Binney and Smith invented the modern-day crayon by combining paraffin wax with pigments (colorants).

They were first marketed as Crayola crayons in 1903.

crayons are fun. this thread just made me smile. that could also explain why crayola crayons work so much more smoothly than other brands.

Why did they make crayons in this way?? I hate it!!

It's all waxy and doesn't really write on paper!! It just.. doesn't stick on it!
They say that when you die, your life flashes in front of you. Make it worth watching!

Crayola's write quite well on paper I have had off brands that do not and they are frustrating!

HAve you ever taken a Hot Plate and put a paper on the hot plate take a white crayon and make your design and then take your crayons and draw and fill in allowing the crayon to mely it makes a cool picture you should try it if you have not!
