Are you thinking about foam or about soap bubbles floating freely in the air ?
With foam, there is the problem of drainage :  the liquid from bubbles that have collapsed has to be drained off, which makes viscosity very important.  This is negligible with bubbles floating freely in the air.
There is also a difference between trying to make large bubbles and long lasting bubbles.

Bubles in solids (like amber) last essentially forever.
Bubles formed from liqiuds burst when they become too thin due to draining or evaporation.

Kadie if you add more Glycerin to regular bubbles they become more elastic and are easier to catch and hold. There is a question about bubbles here in the forum somewhere else I can't remember if it was mine, Neil's or someone else's but At school some said to have the kids rub bubbles or get their hands wet to catch them and it worked. We add glycerin here to make them more durable and elastic!

Bubbles:

[attachment=485]

Lest someone is concerned, there is quite a bit of perspective distortion in the above - the lady was several hundred yards away, and the bubbles quite close.

The bubbles themselves were maybe a couple of feet across (cannot recall exactly, it was about 3 years ago, and I did not have a measuring rod with me).
