How do they do it 
Stained glass is very interesting. Although they did not know it - this is the earliest time where people were actually using nanotechnology - right back in the 15th century and even earlier. Many of the colours in the glass e.g. blues, reds, purples, result as a function of the size of the material.i.e. nanoscale materials that semi-conduct between 1-7 nm give different colours. These materials are called quantum dots.
