Wow those are cool! I have never seen anything like that before! That is really neat!..Thanks Rd! Do you know any details about these rings other then it is their exhales?

How often does a whale take a breath and need to exhale it?

I had heard that some whales (don't remember if it was humpbacks) use rings of  air exhaled beneath the surface to corral smaller fish (their dinner) inside the ring, and then swimming up open mouthed to swallow all the small fish.

How does the exhale cause that ring?

I think it just swims in a circle (underwater) while exhaling.

So they swim in a circle while exhaling.. can they swim that tight of a circle..? The circles seem small..

How does the exhale cause that ring?

It's like blowing a smoke ring, (toroidal vortex).

I don't know which of these ring vortices would smell the worst:
sulphurous smoke from Mt Etna, or humpback halitosis  [:)].

Is it possible to create a ring vortex soap bubble floating in air ?

Wow, that is soooooo cool
Rosalind Franklin was my first cousin and one my life's main regrets is that I never met this brilliant and beautiful lady.
She discovered the Single DNA Helix in 1953, then it was taken by Wilkins without her knowledge or agreeement.
