why does strangulation give men an errection?

For once I'm not being smutty or rude. I am just interested in why men sometimes accidently hang themselves when all they want is a quick hard on. What is it that causes the sexual stimulation. I don't get it.

Lack of oxygen in the brain (hypoxia) can cause euphoria, I suspect this is why people indulge in this activity.
Severe hypoxia can cause priapism, but by that stage the man will probably be unconscious, brain damaged and near death,
so asphyxia is not an advisable treatment for impotence.

Quote
Symptoms of generalized hypoxia depend on its severity and acceleration of onset. In the case of altitude sickness, where hypoxia develops gradually, the symptoms include headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, a feeling of euphoria and nausea.
In severe hypoxia, or hypoxia of very rapid onset, changes in levels of consciousness, seizures, coma, priapism, and death occur.

Don't try this at home.   [xx(]

Science is continually evolving. Nothing is set in stone. Question everything and everyone. Always consider vested interests as a reason for miss-direction. But most of all explore and find answers that you are comfortable with
