Does oral testosterone therapy affect female mood?
« on: 27/08/2007 15:16:09 »
I was wondering if anyone knew of studies of improvement in 'mood' when taking some oral testosterone therapy. Specifically, what are the range dosages involved?

There is some literature on transdermal and implants therapy: what would the equivalent oral dose be?

I haven't a clue but don't give up, we have a few physicians who post here at times and THE original Naked Scientist responsible for this mess is also a physician.

I seem to remember that oral testosterone doesn't work well because it's destroyed in the gut. If that's right then the dose would be huge and depend on what you had been eating. Not a good way to do things.

Not sure what the equivalent would be. Sublingual testosterone is available that is processed through the lymphatic system and the result is quite different. Also, oral testosterone may be better absorbed with food than without.

Agree with you Bored chemist. My doctor said same thing to me...
