what is the difference between university students studying Mining Geology and those studying Mineral Exploration?

Generally, mining geology includes working with geology at mines- where one would expect a career in a specific mine or district- working on and refining a known mineral deposit.  Mineral exploration covers finding ore deposits, whether adjacent to existing mines or far flung.  Mineral explorationist tend to be a bit more of a geological generalist.  There is quite a bit of overlap between the two.
Old enough to have a grandson
Slow enough to study rocks
Thirsty enough to find a pub

"they" always hire more soil geologists than environmental geologists - why? Because the soil geologist is "dirt cheap"..........sorry.
