An autopsy specimen from a 52 year old female who was admitted in May 1981 with right sided hemiplegia. At the time of admission her blood pressure was 250/150. She deteriorated rapidly and died 4 days after admission. At postmortem she was found to have a large heart weighing 800g (expected weight 275-300g).
