Gastrointestinal pathology: Small intestine: Metastatic malignant melanoma

A 1928 operative resection specimen from a 40 year old man admitted with symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Six years previously a melanoma had been removed from his back and he recently had a recurrence in the left axillary glands. He had been anaemic and weak, suffering from attacks of gastro-intestinal pain and melaena. At laparotomy it was found that the tumour had caused an intussusception.
