An autopsy specimen from a fatal case of amoebic infection. No further clinical information is available. The specimen consists of the terminal ileum, appendix, caecum and proximal colon showing extensive amoebic ulceration of the large bowel with numerous shreds of necrotic slough protruding into the lumen. The residual mucosa and underlying bowel wall are thickened and oedematous.
