Renal Pathology: Kidney: Adult Polycystic Disease. Liver: Hepatic Cysts
01 August 2011
A 1946 autopsy specimen from a 67 year old female admitted with loss of energy and drowsiness. On examination, she was pale with a low haemoglobin. The only abnormality on physical examination, was an enlargement of the liver, three finger breadths below the costal margin. She died shortly after admission with a rapidly rising blood urea. No symptoms were present which were directly referable to the kidneys, autopsy disclosing the renal nature of the disease.
