Catherine is interested in all things biological. She has an inordinate fondness for social insects and is particularly interested in how groups of insects and other animals communicate to make decisions together.
She completed a BA in Biological Sciences at Oxford University and is now absorbed in a PhD at Princeton, USA. Currently, her work involves attaching tiny bar codes to ants, tracking them moving around, and carrying out experiments in order to understand their behaviour. She maintains a blog on news in collective intelligence at https://notesfromtheswarm.wordpress.com.
