About
I was born and raised in Canberra, Australia. I went to a bilingual school from kindergarton to year 12 and studied most of my classes in french. My father was a computer scientist and my mother worked for many years in dementia wards as a registered nurse. I think these things contributed to my interest in and appreciation of the mind. When I was 15, my brother gave me a copy of a book called "On Intelligence" (written by Jeff Hawkins) which outlined a theory of brain function centred on prediction. I fell in love with the brain and decided to pursue its study. I did my bachelor of science at the Australian National University and studied cell biology, genetics and neuroscience. I did a one year honours research project in 2017, and started my PhD in 2018, both in the Eccles Institute of Neuroscience at ANU. My PhD project focuses on the mechanisms of spatial attention in mice. Beyond neuroscience, I am a generally interested in science, technology and society.
