General Science / Re: Why filming the Sun shows it with 6 main rays like in the following image?

- The fact that this reflected disk has some colored fringes is a result of refraction ...

The colour in lens-flare is due to anti-refection coatings on the surfaces of the lens elements ...

So that means it's due to interference, rather than refraction.

... The achievable degree of compression is strongly dependent on the video content.
- Large areas of uniform colour compress more easily than areas of great image detail
- Stationary or slowly-moving video content compresses better than fast-moving content

I don't know how long that battery has been in there but I think for over 5 years.

Gases can accumulate in (old) sealed batteries, causing them to be pressurised.

Quote from: somewhereouthere on 06/12/2020 00:45:53
... there's been some rain ....

A change in atmospheric-pressure could then cause the electrolyte in the battery to move,
(like a barometer), and consequently change the performance of the battery.

[Changes in atmospheric-pressure alone are sufficient to power a mechanical clock]

... Why is there no rust in the other parts of the rock where it also has shiny flakes ...

The distribution of water wasn't uniform throughout the rock.
Water is better able to seep between some layers (strata) in the rock.

Why does breathing in Gasses such as Nitrogen put people to sleep peacefully ...

Nitrogen alone is considered an inhumane way to euthanise dogs, see ...

Quote from: livescience.com
the World Society for the Protection of Animals lists nitrogen inhalation as "not acceptable" for animal euthanasia because loss of consciousness is not instantaneous, and dogs euthanized by nitrogen gas have been observed convulsing and yelping after falling unconscious.
https://www.livescience.com/62037-oklahoma-executions-nitrogen.html

Nitrogen is cheap, effective, not hazardous to others, (e.g. not toxic nor explosive),
but apparently it's not as quick & painless as other methods of euthanasia.

... The wave “buffets” the object the same number of times as its frequency....

Even if buffeting inactivated all the virus in extracorporeal blood, it would have no effect on the virus in the cells of the body. (e.g. lungs).

UV light can modify the behaviour of lymphocytes, (which are in blood), which when returned to the patient could behave differently as a consequence of UV exposure.

Also wikipedia is not "scientific" or anything to use to prove things brother,
in wikipedia all of us have access to write almost anything we want. Stop using it ...

If you disagree with the definitions of cherry picking , survivor bias, & anecdotal evidence on Wikipedia,
feel free to look up what those phrases mean on any other website, ( I doubt they will differ from Wikipedia).

My sources for medical information in this thread are not from Wikipedia, they are from The Lancet,
Cancer Research UK, The Journal of the National Cancer Institute  &  Professor David H. Gorski.

-- I did not make 40 posts in this forum. Your research is incomplete.

My mistake: now I see your profile said you had 40 posts to go before becoming a full member,
so at that point you'd only made 10 posts, not "1000" like you claimed.
If you need to quantify something, like efficacy of a treatment, accurate numbers vitally important.

Who told you that it is not already known to many people and to huge group of people?!
Yet it's not known to doctors who, for humane or economic reasons, would wish to keep their cancer patients alive.
Quite the reverse: doctors, who have seen many cases of cancer,  say cannabis does not treat/cure cancer.

Quote from: mydreamis on 07/01/2019 12:49:00
... The problem is that it is illegal and hard to find ....
In some countries cannabis is legal, or even grows wild.
Do those countries have higher cancer-survival-time ?,
If not why not ?, if the cure for cancer is readily available to them.

Quote from: mydreamis on 07/01/2019 12:49:00
... Definitely not a small group of people ...
Size does not matter if you have no control-group, see ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_picking

Currently you have made 40 posts in this forum, not "1000". Making numbers up to fit your belief is not scientific.
