Dearest Peeps Of All Conquering Conker Knowledge,


As a sheepy I of course totally luff conkers !....They really are my all time favourite seed of the Horse Chestnut tree...in fact...out of all the roundish brownish seedish things that come from the horse chestnut tree ...conkers are my all time fave.

I mean....look at them will ewe ?

I guess that Horse Chestnut Trees are not visited by moths and spiders !!...I make this statement because I learned today that conkers are a deterrent for moths and spiders !

Why is this ?  Why did I read that to place conkers in your home will deter moths and spiders from visiting ?



As a firm believer in empirical study I snuk into my neighbours house at 3am this morning and he gleefully allowed me to sedate him with chloroform. Once he was sound asleep he gave no protestation about being dropped into the Black Widow breeding compartment at London Zoo....oh !..i did put a conker in his pocket !........well....after three hours he must have been very relaxed because despite the chloroform wearing off...all he did was remain still and turn white......and so he was unable to communicate to me if the spiders had kept away....so...no luck there !

Additionally....I also read that Conkers aid in the relief of Rheumatism !.....why's that then ....What's so special about conkers that aid relief from Rheumatism ?


Ewe see...I just do not now...I don't....and I want to know !...please help me know !!

Chestnuts are poisonous: like other plants they have evolved to produce insecticide for self-preservation.

All parts of plants in the aesculus family are potentially toxic, especially the seeds.
Horse chestnut has been classified by the FDA as an unsafe herb.

Thank Ewe RD. I guess I'd best keep my consuming of a McConker with cheese to just three to avoid possible harm !

....and what of the rheumatism ?...I wonder if it's as simple as just collecting a few and using them as a massage tool of sorts ?

Wow they look very much like filbert nuts! What do they taste like..? Perhaps they have some sort of anti-inflammatory properties or such... kind of like cumin...The spice...? I wonder?? I shall try to find out!

Since they are quite definitely poisonous I really don't think you should find out what they taste like (though my guess would be rather bitter).
An extract of conkers was the first "whiter than white" optical brightener used in laundry.

OH... so thats the difference they remind me of what we used to call wild cucumbers but ours were sticky and slimmy when loaded into a vacuumn cleaner wieth the suction reversed and they went shooting out across the field through my neighbors vacuum while their parents were gone...LOL.. I believe they are still very different but look just like that except for the foliage...LOL

Thanks Bored. I thought they were speaking of edible chestnuts until I looked them up and seen that they are not.I see from the info that they are totally different!
