I was doing some welding today and to avoid arc eye i wore goggles which have clear glass lenses plus very dark and almost impossible to see through flip down lenses which cuts down the amount of UV light from the welding reaching your eye and causing damage.
But as Normal glass stops UV from passing through why cant i just wear clear glass lenses to protect my eyes rather than the dark lenses

It's not just the UV that you need to protect your eyes from, it's the intensity of the light too - without the dark glass you'd not be able to see what you were doing as it would be too bright.

...And its claws are as big as cups, and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps! And Mrs Doyle was telling me it's got magnets on its tail, so if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you! And instead of a mouth it's got four arses!
