Methane is not a salt, it is a neutral, covalently bonded molecular compound. It is a very weak acid (which can be deprotonated by very strong bases like t-butyllithium), and a very weak base (which can be protonated by very strong acids like "magic acid," which is formed by combining anitmony pentafluoride with fluorosulfonic acid.)
