Hi all,
So this reminds me of the numerous times a busy chef is told of a customer who's just walked in and  has specific dietary requirements due to allergies.

The conversation tends to start with the presumption that the customer is very allergic to certain things, and just wants guidance as to their preferred choice of dish, however the reality goes across a broad spectrum.

From the Fad self diagnosed to the really allergic, for example,

Front of house;
The two people on table 10 want 1 roast turkey and 1 fish and chips both gluten-free, but wants normal batter on the fish.
BusyChef:
WTF so the fish customer isn’t allergic then ?
Front of house:
No they just prefer our gluten free chips.
Busy chef;
Okay but tell person who’s requesting gluten free turkey they won’t be getting a Yorkshire pudding or stuffing, as they contain wheat, so would they like to choose something to replace them like extra gluten free roasties or more vegetables ?
Few minutes later,
Front of house:
Customer on table 10 says no to replacements, they would like the Yorkshire pudding and stuffing please !
Busy chef: Arhhhh #%*$¥

To one lady that used to come regularly with her partner, who had severe allergies, and they disclosed one time they required two allergy free meals, they were on a kissing 💋 day.
