I posted this up because I thought the similarities between mania and ADHD interesting, also the lack of concentration with depression, and mania too I suppose.

Physiology & Medicine / Many adults with psychiatric disorders may also have undiagnosed ADHD
« on: 11/12/2006 11:27:44 »
Shire plc announced today (28 Oct 2006) that many adults with a depressive disorder, Bipolar Disorder (BPD), or an anxiety disorder may also have undiagnosed Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), according to a longitudinal retrospective medical claims analysis presented today (28 Oct 2006) at a major medical meeting of child and adolescent psychiatrists.

Physiology & Medicine / Re: Allergies...Achoooooo!
« on: 11/12/2006 11:16:27 »
Yup, really looking forward to it. We've got cheap flights to Marrakech and will spend a few days there, then probably get a train to Casablanca to spend a few days. We've not booked hotels or anything, should be okay 'cos it's out of season. I'm really looking forward to exploring the 'old' medinas (old town/quarter) and soukes (markets).
Went to Morocco a good few years ago with a friend but we spent the time in Tangiers. Two blond girls, you can guess the hassle we had (even a fake wedding ring didn't help)! At least my other half will be with me this time.

Chris, I absolutely agree.
Also, when will the drug companies make anti-HIV drugs cheap to the developing world on principle?
When will the Pope endorse the use of Condoms?
When will the US government stop imposing religio-moral conditions on the grant of (anti-AIDS) aid such as countries having to promote abstinance and not being 'allowed' to promote condom usage?

I do hope your friend gets as well as he is able!
At least with the advances in drug therapy that have now been made, many people who are HIV +ve are able to stay HIV non-progressors (ie not develop full-blown AIDS) for a longer period of time. Others who have developed AIDS are able to slow the disease progression.
That said, it is still a devastating illness!
