Quote from: demografx on 10/02/2011 02:11:22My hangovers from drinking alcohol were WAY out of proportion to what I actually drank. Just a little booze could set me off for days, like POIS. I quit drinking completely 17 years ago.Same thing with jet lag. Days of torture!I decided to have 3 vodka crans on new years eve, after not having a drink in a couple years. I had a little buzz going on but nothing big, it wore off a couple hours after I stopped drinking, then about 3 in the morning I became very sick and was throwing up until the next evening. I actually would have been throwing up through the second evening, but i took a sleeping pill and passed out after nearly 24 hour of vomiting. If i don't have a bad liver, I don't how I could possibly become so sick unless i have a significant amount of some unknown toxin streaming through my arteries.

WOW Demo - I have the EXACT same thing... it's like a chemical depression for a few days - similar feeling to POIS (foggy, weak,fatigued,depressed)- haven't drank for 12 years myself as a result...
Milk Thistle is supposed to be good for the liver. I am actually taking it now just to try it. I have always been quite sensitive to alcohol. I quit drinking entirely about 10-15 years ago because it makes my insomnia worse. Even a literal sip of wine will affect my sleep.
Mine started after a time of particularly heavy ecstasy usage @ age 19, 15 years ago. Eventually having an O felt began to feel like coming down off of ecstasy. The extremity has subsided, but I suffer many of the symptoms that others here share. Has anyone else had any experiences with drugs and POIS? Thanks. p
Just wanted to say that these ideas of when we GOT POIS are really pretty much speculation.99% of boys on earth have been banged in nuts at some point or hit their head at some point. That's like saying, I first noticed my POIS after i ate my first bowl of Cherios. Its probably not super productive to speculate on things that are SO non-specific is all I'm saying.
BTW, my frightful jet lag (now abated - doing a big performance in 3 weeks, cross-country!) - if it's POIS-related - destroyed my career. Why? I quit flying!
We'll call you 5 star Van!!!! []
As far as the jet-lag, I suppose if one had a couple of days on the other end to sleep, it would probably be easier. But then I guess if one had the time, one could take the train!I love trains, although as a pilot, for me, flying comes first, second and third!

Can you warn us if so? 'Prrrrt... Dear passengers, this is your pilot Dave. I am in POIS now. You have ten minutes to leave the plane.'
Van, unfortunately, your 500 posts at POIS Forum won't cure POIS, but we thank you very much for your enthusiasm and great contribution to this Forum. It is sincerely appreciated!I can say this, however: 500 posts helped ME greatly! By becoming involved in this forum, I could no longer ignore the advice (believe me, I tried! []) of many well-meaning individuals here to see an endocrinologist and get tested hormonally.Doing that changed my life!!Without this forum.....I simply wouldn't have taken that step (I was "so smart" that I "tried everything" - and "knew everything" - for over 30 years! [])
Dave, you could always break into and rob borrow from a bank!
